Rivers Edge

Pictures of some of Calgary's hidden gems - in an offleash park to be exact. We are so lucky to have such wonderful pathways and park systems that are in the middle of a bustling metropolis.

Flood Damage - Bridge

Went to an offleash park today with Lucy and took some pictures of a bridge that got damaged due to the flood.

Food Truck - Braizen

Met with some friends from my old work place and we tried a food truck today at lunch. This is Braizen - Chef-Driven Cuisine. We all had the Jerk Chicken Sandwich ($9) - Spicy jerk flavored chicken roasted and served with pineapple cilantro slaw on a soft bun from Kruses' bakery.

It was very filling and I would try them again as their Seafood Mac & Cheese sounds not too bad.

Swag

A while ago I entered my information for the Commuter Challenge. All I had to enter is the total kms/miles it takes to me get to/from work and if I drive or take transit. Thought nothing of it.

Today I got this neat little swag bag full of items for entering my information in. The bag is a fuel conservation kit for my car which includes:

  • a hand powered light
  • a tire pressure gauge
  • a tire tread depth gauge
  • a tire inflation/monthly record keeper

Fairview

Lucy and I went for a nice walk tonight. We did a quick walk by the house in Fairview and old Junior high school.  Here are the pics.

7612 Farrell Road - hedge removed

Then: 7-Eleven / Now: Dr's office

Food Truck - Cheezy Bizness

First food truck review - Cheezy Bizness is the Gooey Gourmet Grilled Cheese Goodness. The ultimate comfort food is mobile.

I had the Veg Head ($9) - Gull Valley tomatoes, basil vinaigrette and mozzarella. It was very good and surprisingly filling. Not that greasy like normal grilled cheese.

Yes I would try them again.

Food Trucks!

So the latest crazy here in Calgary are the food trucks. They were initialized in late 2010 in an effort to bring street food culture to Calgary. With no program in place for such a great community building utility, they are quickly gaining traction in implementing and regulating a viable solution.

Last year there were about 15 and this year there are about 40. The girls I used to work with are going to try and visit a few before that ugly white stuff fly's.  The trucks serve everything from doughnuts to grilled cheese sandwiches to sweet treats.

I'm gonna try to take pictures and write about all our escapades.

Mom's flowers

Drove dad home and stayed for dinner. Took a few pictures of mom's flowers which are looking wonderful as usual.

Dorothy, AB

Driving further down, we came upon Dorothy, AB. A nice little spot you really wouldn't know was actually a town if you didn't see the remnants of the old grain elevator.

Hoodoos

After the Suspension Bridge, we continued on to view the Hoodoos. I thought they were interesting but disappointed they were so small and so few. Guess that's what happens when you wait so long to so see them. Interesting still and I'd go back to see them again and explore as it was difficult to take Lucy on the trails.

Suspension Bridge, Rosedale, AB

After visiting Wayne, we kept driving and decided to go to the Suspension Bridge at Rosedale.

Yes Lucy made it over the bridge with us, I shoulder carried her as that was the safest. No picture - sorry.

Frontier Market, Wayne, AB

After visiting Wayne, I saw a sign stating Frontier Market. So we drove down a gravel road to this little old quonset on someone's property full of flea market finds.

Driving back to Wayne I saw this view and the dark spot in the middle of the picture looks like a horse or something (to me it does at least).
