Night Photography - Class 1

Tonight was the first of two classes on Night Photography and I really enjoyed it. At first I thought it was going to be a waste but once we got out and started taking pictures I didn't want to stop. Unfortunately it was colder than snot and I froze but I think a few of my pictures turned out. Next week we are going to go over our pictures and get more pointers. Then it's look out night skies!

Artist: E. Alan Garrett

Pictures painted by mom & dad's friend. It was a long, long, long time ago though.

This abstract painting has been with us forever. I remember it fondly growing up. Just recently Al came to sign and date it. He dated it '67.

Work April Fool's Day

Last week we found out that our branch was the only branch in North America to have plant service - where we rented plants and people came in weekly to look after them. So our Executive Assistant sent a note out to us all stating that the plants would be removed the next day. This, believe it or not, caused a bit of an uproar.  Not our EAs fault, just something she was coordinating.

We were bugging her and even printed off pictures of plants to post around the office. Well on Sunday one of my co-workers bought two plants for her to put on her desk as a joke. Our EA is also known for being a bit sadistic so she was going to buy some Easter marshmallow chicks and bite their heads off. She didn't find any of those but bought this cute stuffed puppy instead. You'll see what she did, not pretty at all.

I was able to get in this morning and get a picture of our EA at her desk trying to figure out what happened. It was funny as I was standing behind her and she was talking to herself.  Fun had by all.

Cactus and puppy stuffing everywhere

Revenge - puppy and cactus returned to prankster

Spring has sprung!

Yes spring is here. A dandelion coming up through the frozen ground this Easter Sunday.

Grandma Jenkins

My favourite picture of Grandma Jenkins. Not sure when this was taken but it sure shows her personality. She was such an interesting woman. Too bad I didn't take more interest when she was alive.

Artist: Phyllis Lauzon

Thought I'd pay homage to my late, great Aunt Phyllis and the wonderful artwork she painted during her lifetime. She was very talented and we miss her dearly.

On a fishing trip in either Northern Ontario or Quebec, dad took this picture. Later that picture was given to Aunt Phyllis to recreate as a painting and she did a fantastic job.

Farming History

I've been meaning to post pictures of the farm mom grew up on and finally remembered to get these pictures.

New homestead - what a difference

And this picture is from the acreage mom and dad lived on for almost 20 years. A lot of changes were made.

Staying over at mom & dad's this long Easter Weekend and someone was happy to have me with her. Especially during bedtime.

Night Shots at Heritage Park

I tried to get a picture of the comet Pan-Starrs this evening but was not successful. I was successful though in finding a great spot for taking night shots. I can't wait until my Night Photography class next week! Once I have that under my belt I'll be at my new favourite spot - Heritage Park. I found a great little hill where I can look west and see the stars when the sun finally sets.

Here are my pictures taken tonight at Heritage Park. I used both my camera's - Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS and my Panasonic DMC-ZS3 pocket camera. To be honest, so far I like the pictures my little pocket digital camera takes. You be the judge.

Horse

No big adventures today, but found this interesting subject for my picture of the day.
